Government Access Television Channel 17
Get the inside scoop on what's going on in the City as it happens LIVE!
The City of Gilroy franchises its cable services with Charter Communications.
Geographically Charter Communications primarily serves the South Santa Clara
valley covering parts of San Benito County. The Community Services Department
oversees the franchise agreement with the cable company. This is an exclusive
agreement, Charter Communications is the only cable service provider in the valley
and only services a specific area. There is no overlap in areas that they cover.
Federal Communication Commission laws and regulations provide oversight of the
cable industry. Local government regulation is limited to franchise compliance of
local cable television. The city plays an important role in advocating for
residents in the community.
