Water
The water section personnel are responsible for planning and maintaining City
wells, and the distribution system that provides safe drinking water to the
City. The water section is also responsible for the booster pumps, the reservoirs,
maintenance and the monthly reading of all water meters. The water section is
responsible for meeting California State requirements for a Backflow Program
within the City of Gilroy.

Water is the most important element for human survival. The planet is covered
by 80% water. Because of this fact, we think that there is enough water for
centuries to come. The shocking fact is only 1% of the planet's water is
available for human consumption. That's for drinking, washing, and farming,
to name a few. We are not "running out" of water because the same amount of
water is the same amount as thousands of years ago. Instead, we are changing
the quality of that by polluting and wasting water. Look and see what you can

Public Health Goal Report (PHG)
The Public Health Goal Report (PHG) is required for water systems with over 10,000
water meter connections. The City of Gilroy's water meets all drinking water
standards for maximum contaminant levels (MCL) required by the California
Department of Health Services and USEPA. No additional actions are recommended.

Landscape Survey Program
This program provides landscape surveys for commercial sites with 5,000 sq ft or more of irrigated landscape. The survey includes site specific recommendations for increasing system efficiency, distribution uniformity testing, analysis of potential water/costs savings, as well qualifies sites to participate in the Landscape Rebate Program. Landscape Rebate Program
The Landscape Rebate Program provides rebates for home owners and businesses that increase their outdoor water use efficiency by replacing high water use landscape and/or upgrading to high efficiency irrigation equipment. This new program is a result of combining and streamlining several landscape rebate programs into one program in order to increase program effectiveness. To qualify sites must participate in a pre-inspection prior to beginning their project or purchasing materials that they would like to receive rebates for.
