Have you ever needed to replace a window on a historic building? Or, have you ever wondered if there are rules governing what materials you can use when replacing windows on a historic building?
If you answered yes to either question or are just interested, please join us at the next City of Gilroy Historic Heritage Committee Meeting to hear a presentation addressing what to consider when you need to replace a window on a historic building. Evans & DeShazo, one of the city's historical consultants, will provide an overview of the state's requirements and discuss the use of alternate materials when replacing windows.
On April 18th, 2016 the City Council directed staff to analyze and develop for the Council's consideration a policy regarding the use of alternate materials when replacing windows on historic buildings. The Historic Heritage Committee will be asked to receive the information presented at their upcoming meeting, and provide input this new policy.
