Notification Addressing 1st Street Resurfacing

1st street graphic_web.jpg

Over the last few months we have received many of your emails and messages regarding the deteriorated state of First Street between Monterey Road and Santa Teresa Boulevard. We take our road-user needs seriously and we appreciate all of your feedback and concerns.

This section of First Street is a state highway, and therefore falls under the responsibility of Caltrans for repaving. Unfortunately, we have been told that the current Caltrans schedule puts this street on their list of repairs for the year 2020 or 2021.

We realize that this is not a feasible timeline based upon the current state of disrepair of this street. We are desperately seeking methods to speed up the timeline for repaving. Currently, we are in the process of reaching out to VTA to see if they can help with the funding issues allowing the resurfacing of First Street to occur much sooner than the Caltrans timeline. We hope that you can continue to be patient with us as we work for better solutions and seek for opportunities that will allow us to repave this section of State Highway 152 in a timelier manner.
