Per Municipal Code 13.68, every person within the city who operates as a tobacco retailer is required to obtain and maintain a City of Gilroy valid tobacco retailer permit.
The completed tobacco retailer permit application and required fee of $100.00 must be submitted to the City of Gilroy Finance Department, 7351 Rosanna St., Gilroy, CA 95020 no later than December 31st of year.
Applications for annual tobacco retailer permits will be included with the annual business license renewal process.
Prior to submittal of a tobacco retailer permit application, the owner or authorized agent of the business must have completed a training course on state and local tobacco retail laws and requirements, presented by the Santa Clara County Public Health Department (SCCPHD).
The owner or agent is also required to verify on the permit application that all employees selling tobacco products have viewed the on-line version of the training available on the City website: Tobacco Retailer Training Video.
A copy of the current State of California Board of Equalization Tobacco Retailers License for the business must also be submitted with the application.
